Yet firstly forgive me for being so bold in sharing with a stranger but it was your blog that prompted my humour so guess I hold your words responsible. [Generally I keep such small and every day encounters to myself yet have been recently challenged by a student that tells me I hold the social media and virtual comms with unwarranted disdain. Further, that I really need to have a look at my agency beyond the here and now and loosen my judgments... hence I have taken this somewhat audacious students comments seriously and am shifting my prejudice. Think its called branching out, ha]
And the point is..... I started a new research trajectory yesterday with nothing other than a sketchy hunch. So to the internet I go searching on dissidence and the city of Auckland hoping to at least find a few crumbs of active discontent that might fuel my inquiry .... but what do i get?? Nothing other than 12 year old comments regarding Auckland's fashion sense from self confessed flannel wearer? So this is funny to me as not only does it provisionally point to the ridiculously benign state of affairs here, but also that some things never change. That the many we of Auckland who continue to wear expensive shapes of black amidst this every growing hot bed of Pacific sensibility are becoming not anarchistic but anachronistic. I will spare you my cursory speculations other than it appears the 'designer uniform' that is black amusingly operates almost oxymoronically. This wont be make me give up my black inclinations however I shall be reformulating my search questions seeking out evidence of political discontent beyond that of the sartorial.
Trust all well and that your spring has sprung. Thanks for making me smile.Hannahnoreply@blogger.com
